As a mom, wife, coach, athlete, sister and daughter, I’ve worked unbelievably hard over the years to understand the meaning of “balance” – (if that’s even a thing), and trying to achieve it everyday.
How can we fill our multiple roles as women, while still meeting our personal goals as individuals? It can feel like an endless battle, but it doesn’t have to. My BIGGEST purpose as a coach is to enhance the parts of your life that you love, while helping to make your life worth living even more so than it already is by making you PROUD of who you are for yourself, your family, and your loved ones.
When I’m not chasing around my 2 year old son, I enjoy a nice glass of wine or a seasonal pumpkin beer with my husband. I’ll mention that balance word again, because life is full of it. Restrictions and rule based diets had a place in my past, but I’m a firm believer in a healthy, wholesome, long term way of eating and living. Don’t tell me I can’t have peanut butter or a donut, or we definitely can’t be friends :). (bz – can you just try to get the smiley to show up on the same line)
I’m a Precision Nutrition Certified Coach, as well as a NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialist. As much as food is entwined in our culture and social lives, I strongly believe it needs to be something we embrace, not something we fear.
While swimming was my main sport throughout high school and college, I turned to running and strength training along the way as well. Believe it or not, our bodies love to move, and I want to help you find the movement you love to make it fun long term. I’ve competed in dozens of half marathons, 2 full marathons, and recently completed a half Ironman as well. These are a testament to physical demands, of course, but more so the ability to show up for yourself and do something to prove that YOU matter, and YOU deserve to be healthy and push your own mental and physical barriers. Allow those that love you to cheer you on and support you the same way you do for them.
In my professional career as a trainer and coach, I’ve always been a quiet leader. In my 10+ years at Big Sky, you’ll rarely hear me yelling from the floor. We’ve all known and had coaches that motivate that way, but I’m your hype girl that will inspire you in a more subtle way. Loud when I need to be – and compassionate, understanding, and approachable in my coaching demeanor.
Like any journey in life, this is a commitment, and my testament to you is supporting you in every struggle (and yes, there could be many) that we meet. I am your cheerleader, your mentor, your teacher and your support system along the way.
Now, let’s get going!
I joined the team at Big Sky in July 2019 after spending 10 years at home raising my three children. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join an environment where the main focus is to help people. In my years at Big Sky, I’ve earned my NASM Personal Training Certification, Precision Nutrition Certification, and became a NESTA Lifestyle and Weight Management Specialist.
I can easily relate to women, especially new moms who may be experiencing some of
the same body image challenges I experienced. Not only with gaining a fair amount of weight during pregnancy, but growing up in an environment where food had become my entire livelihood. It had become my primary source of happiness, which led me to having to overcome my own personal challenges of being overweight and negatively experiencing years of disordered eating.
Like many, I tried everything and was always left feeling hopeless and frustrated with each attempt at weight loss until I realized it wasn’t knowledge I was lacking, there is plenty of information out there…it was patience and a positive mindset, so that’s where I began. Instead of focusing solely on my goal of losing weight, I focused on building a system to get there. It was a system that helped me aim for improvement, not perfection. A system that had me focusing on creating awareness and understanding the process of change, and helping me recognize unwanted habits by slowly building new more positive ones.
Change is hard… but, the small inconvenience of making change can far outweigh the consequences of not.
Now, as a coach, I find immense joy through movement and mindset, in helping
women create awareness and guiding them to finding their system, and a plan that works best for them. My future goal as a coach is to see women build strength mentally and physically through exercise, drop the impossible standard of being perfect, collaborate to find solutions not excuses, and develop confidence through positive self-talk with the help our friendly Big Sky community !
I’ve been helping people become the best versions of themselves since 2010. I’m a Girls Gone Strong Level 1 Coach, NASM CPT and CFSC LEVEL 1 (Certified Functional Strength Coach ) specializing in helping women.
I’m a no-nonsense coach who calls it how I see it. I am straightforward and give toughlove – when needed. Losing weight is an extremely unique mix of psychology and science. It’s not your job to know that… it is your job to trust me and the guidance you’re given. That is what will get you results. There will be ups & downs…I guarantee that. I can also promise to hold you accountable for your choices and praise you for your wins.
Despite my toughness, I have three young children, so I understand the battles with prioritizing oneself.
A parent or not, putting yourself first can be challenging, but if you’re ready, I will meet you where you’re at. I’ve learned that overcoming one challenge gives you the confidence to tackle another. You cannot pour from an empty glass, so taking care of your physical and mental health should take priority. It may feel selfish at first, but once you discover what you’re truly capable of… you’ll feel empowered.
There’s never a right time to do something uncomfortable, but the longer you wait, the further you are from feeling confident, firm, and secure. It would be my privilege to help you on this journey. Let’s get serious, and let’s get to work.
