We are usually much stronger than we realize, and it’s my job to help you understand what you’re capable of. Dance was the driving force for much of my life. I completed a professional dance training program in Chicago after graduating from a boarding arts school. I knew how to work hard, but I found that I didn’t know how to balance exercise, nutrition, and having a fulfilling life. When I determined that dance was not my path, I chose to pursue exercise science because I love learning how the body moves and what’s going on from the inside out.
Two of my favorite sayings are “movement is medicine” and “motion is lotion.” I have seen the benefits of moving more (it starts as simple as that!) on multiple populations first-hand, and I know that movement can be for everyone. During my undergrad degree, I completed two 400-hour internships. One was in the Strength and Conditioning field, working with athletes, and the other was in a geriatric setting, training older adults. I also currently work with people with Parkinson’s Disease – we use high-intensity exercise as a way to increase coordination and strength, and as a way to slow the neurodegeneration as their condition progresses.
We go through many different seasons of life. What we’re able to give to a workout might look different over the course of a year, but what we’re able to give to ourselves should always remain a priority, whether it’s rest, compassion, or pushing a little harder, I’m here to help guide this process. You are enough as you are, whatever season you’re in. When we work together, we’re finding ways to enhance what is already there, so that you can take control of your own life and your own goals. I’m excited to see you become your favorite, and most confident self.
