Robin Proves It’s Never Too Late to Get Stronger
Walking into a gym for the first time can feel intimidating at any age. For Big Sky Simsbury member Robin, that first step came at age 55, and just 12 weeks later, he’s already seeing results that go far beyond the number on the scale.
When Robin started personal training with Ryan at Big Sky Simsbury, he had never been to a gym before. Rather than letting that hold him back, Robin and Ryan worked together to establish a goal and create a plan that felt approachable, realistic, and tailored specifically to him.
“At 55 and having never been to the gym before, I thought I was late, but Ryan partnered with me on the goal and plan.”
12 Weeks of Progress
Robin trains with Ryan twice a week and comes in for one additional workout on his own. That consistency has already paid off.
In his first 12 weeks, Robin has:
Lost 12 pounds, going from 201 lbs. to 189 lbs.
Lost 1.5 inches from his waist
Improved his strength
Developed better posture and stability
Increased his flexibility
Built confidence both in and out of the gym
And one of his favorite improvements has shown up somewhere he might not have expected: on the golf course.
“The results go beyond weight loss,” Robin says. “I feel stronger, my posture, stability, and flexibility have noticeably improved, and I can especially feel the difference in my golf game.”
Finding the Right Support
For someone completely new to the gym, having the right coach can make all the difference. Robin credits Ryan with creating a training experience that challenges him without making him feel overwhelmed or intimidated. His workouts are designed around his individual needs and goals, helping him progress at a pace that keeps him motivated and looking forward to what comes next.
“What I appreciate most is the friendly, positive environment,” Robin says. “There’s no pressure or intimidation – just good coaching, encouragement, and exercises that are tailored to help me improve.”
That approach has helped Robin accomplish his first goal… but he isn’t finished. He’s already working toward his next one and says he feels confident he’ll achieve it.
Your Starting Point Is Just That… a Starting Point
Robin’s story is a great reminder that you don’t need gym experience to make meaningful changes in your health and fitness. You don’t have to know how to use every piece of equipment. You don’t have to already be “in shape.” And you definitely don’t have to wait for the perfect time to begin. Sometimes you simply need a goal, a plan, and someone in your corner to help you get there.
“I’m very happy with the progress I’ve made and would highly recommend my trainer to anyone looking to get stronger, healthier, and feel better in everyday life and in their sport.”
Congratulations, Robin, on an incredible first 12 weeks. We can’t wait to see what goal you tackle next!
