Oatmeal comes in all shapes and sizes ! Enjoy it straight up, with all the fixings, mixed up in tasty granola clusters or baked into scrumptious breakfast cookies. No matter how you spin it, whole grain oatmeal provides a hefty dose of heart-healthy fiber, energizing B vitamins, and antioxidants galore.

One cup of plain oatmeal cooked with water gives you 166 calories. It also supplies you with 6 grams of protein and 4 grams of fat per serving.  And oatmeal is a good source of healthy carbohydrates.

(So far this blog article is falling short of making oatmeal “sexy”!)

Ever want to eat dessert for breakfast ?!?   Jazz up that oatmeal with almond milk (or water) blueberries, walnuts and cinnamon; Blueberry Pie !

Just 1 tablespoon of chunky natural peanut butter, 1 tablespoon of jam, and a sprinkle of granola and you’ve got a good old “hot” PB & J sandwich.sandwich

The possibilities are endless; apples, pineapples, raspberries, strawberries.  The sky is the limit as far as creativity goes !!

Looking for something beyond that smokin’ hot bowl of oats ?  Try this —

Oatmeal Blueberry Pancakes

1/2 Banana, medium ripe

1/3 cup Blueberries, fresh or frozen

1 Egg

1/2 cup Rolled oats

1/2 tsp Baking powder

1/2 tsp Vanilla

1 small container of vanilla greek yogurt

Mix it all together and cook on a griddle or in a pan, just like you would a traditional pancake.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 medium ripe bananas, mashed

1 cup of uncooked Quick Oats

¼ cup of Chocolate Chips

Preheat oven to 350F.  Little grease a non-stick cookie sheet. Combine all ingredients in a bowl.  Drop by spoonfuls onto your greased cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes, cool completely (if you can) and watch them disappear!
