How to Balance Staying Fit with Work

Our lives can be busy, stressful, overwhelming or a combination. Balancing long work days, a social life and some you time may be one of the most difficult tasks. Where could going to the gym possibly fit in your hectic life? There are a number of ways to squeeze in some gym time! Here are the top 5 ways to balance staying fit and working full-time:

1. Plan Your Workouts in Advance
It’s not uncommon to get to the gym and forget what you wanted to do. You might not remember what new exercises you wanted to try, your favorite treadmill might be taken or your long workday might be catching up with you. Planning your workouts in advance will allow you to stick to your plan. If it’s written, it will be! You can write out your workout while drinking your morning coffee or on your lunch break. Taking the time to think about what you want to accomplish after a long day of work will take out all the guesswork! You’ll never walk through the doors with a blank stare ever again.

2. Utilize Your Lunch Break for More than Just Lunch
Whether you get 30-minutes or a full hour, you can use that time for more than just eating lunch. With five locations, we make it easy for you to get a quick workout in before getting back to your desk! Even a 15-minute workout can leave you feeling energized and ready to conquer the rest of your day.

3. Find a Workout Buddy
Accountability is key. Having someone to push you can make the difference between seeing real results and staying in your comfort zone. Ask your co-workers if they belong to Big Sky and would like to go with you after work one day. If they aren’t already a member, they can use you as a referral when they do join and YOU’LL get a free month! If you can’t find anyone in the office who wants to join you at the gym, try working with a trainer! They’ll definitely motivate you to work harder, stay focused and reach your goals.

4. Plan Your Workouts Around Your Favorite TV Shows
If you know that Chicago Med is on Wednesdays at 8pm, hop on the Stairmaster at 7:50 and tune in! We have TVs on almost all of our cardio equipment which makes the workout go by so much faster. And you get to enjoy your favorite show while getting a good sweat! Grab a shake on your way out the door and call it a night.

5. Get it Done Early in the Morning
There is something to be said about working out in the morning. Getting a 30-45-minute workout done first thing in the morning can leave you feeling more upbeat, awake and you’ll be more productive at work. Don’t forget your towel! All Big Sky locations have showers in the men’s and women’s locker rooms. After you’ve dried off, don’t forget to pick up a protein bar which will help you stay focused and full until lunch. Not to mention, at the end of your day you can just go home!
